I have a serious question for Jeff.
An important one.
Very important.
BUT
before I get to that a recap on my day (in photos,of course) is needed.
I put some fresh cranberries on the crock pot overnight with some sugar and water.
I was not sure what I would wake up to
I was very pleased with the results!
Yum!!!
I forgot to show you the flowers Jeff brought me the other day.
Thanks Jeff!!
This evening, I finally sat down to quilt the two quilt tops I finished last week.
My meandering flow is very rusty but I was too lazy to practice before I started on the quilt.
For being rusty, my meandering was not so bad. I am pleased but look at the gooberish wrinkle on the back.
~sigh~
I decided to not fix it. I thought I would made it look worse by taking out the quilting stitches and attempting to redo it. Besides, it is close to the edge. It now has character in the form of a gooberish wrinkle.
I love the Bambi quilt. I did not meander but straight line quilted it.
Ok, on to my question for you, Jeff.
Are you reading?
Paying attention?
Make sure you are.
This is serious.
Here goes...
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
I guess...
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you!
I love you!!

La-De-Dah
While the kids were away this evening at AWANA and youth group I had some quiet time to get a few projects finished up.
It was SO quiet.
It was nice.
Um...very nice.
It was a whole hour of silence.
I almost did not recognize the sound of my own thoughts.
La-De-Dah
Very nice.
~~~
My completed project.
P.j. bottoms for two adorable kids.
As long as I was on a p.j. bottom sewing kick ( and had the patterns out) I put Josh to work after he got home from AWANA sewing his own pair of p.j. bottoms.
Now he can go to bed all cozy!
Nolan making pancakes for tomorrow's breakfast.
Nolan approved this picture for blog use only but never to be put on Facebook.
I wonder if I should have disclosed that my blog post links go right on to Facebook...
It will be a nice breakfast.
Weird to make our breakfast pancakes the night before. I know but this way there are not as many big messy breakfast dishes waiting to be done.
A Little Update
We received an email update from Ellen from ASON who is leading up the Ghana mission team.
I thought you would enjoy reading it as well.
Dear praying friends and family:
Most of the team is sleeping as I use the WiFi at our hotel in Kumasi to send this news to you. We had easy connections in New York. And, the flight from New York to Accra had a few slightly bumpy patches, but we had an excellent pilot and landed beautifully. Customs was more vigilant than previous visits, but everything went smoothly there, too. And, though we left New York an hour late because a passenger did not have the necessary paperwork to travel to Ghana and the ground personnel had to sift through the belly of the plane for the luggage belonging to the passenger who was ticketed but not traveling with us, we made up half of that in the air and Eddie was on time and greeting us with a smile.
I’ll send photos next time….it’s late and I took videos today and I do not want to wake the other team members to provide the stills for this…
Everyone is tired, but very fine and excited about what God has in store for us. We travel from Kumasi to Bolgatanga tomorrow, anywhere from 8-10 hours. The van is amazing! Strong, and comfortably fitting the entire team inside with some carry ons under our seats. The people riding in the far back felt a bit like bronco riders when we passed through the construction zone on bumpy roads, though!
Thank you for praying. We’ll keep in touch. Eddie did not bring my Ghana cell phone to the airport in Accra. He went home tonight to get his packed bag for our trip north and has it in that bag. I’ll get it in 8 hours from him and then I can send text messages, God willing.
Blessings!
Ellen
I had to look at a map to get an idea of their travels. Geography is one of the many school subjects I am not the best at.
I will pass on more updates as they come in.
Only a Mom Can Get Away With A Post Like This...
June 2001
" Elena loves to play dress-up. The boys don't always like to pretend to marry her but when they do it makes her feel very special."
To Ghana Grant Is Heading
All I can say is...well...I wish I could just sleep for the next two weeks until Grant gets back.
I did not think it would be this hard.
Grant and the rest of the Ghana team should be somewhere over the ocean right now.
They will arrive in Accra tomorrow morning.
We thank everyone who helped to make Grant's participation in this mission trip happen!!!
From your prayers, encouraging words, to your financial generosity, I thank you from the depths of my heart.
When I get any updates or news I will pass it all along.
A million zillion thank yous!!!
As Random As Random Can Be...Kind-0f Anyway
The countdown is well on it's way!!!
In just about 36 hours Grant will be on the plane heading towards Ghana!!!
I am getting more anxious because Grant is getting more anxious. I do not like seeing my usually cool as a cucumber,laid back young man anxious and stressed.
Do not forget to pray for him!
I do know that we need to speed up on the packing.
Exactly what items can/should go in a carry-on bag?
Meet Lily's Penny Saving Barbie.
Confused?
So was I until Lily showed me her Barbie's penny saving head.
Pretty peppers. I cut them up for the kids before bed snack this evening.
I made something called Zucchini pizza boats. They were SO SO good! Thanks Jeff for doing the clean up!!
P.S. A HUGE thank you to our kind church community for giving us all the wonderful food you did!
See kind-of as random as random can be...
Skid Row Rocks
Well, I would write something like that if say I was listening to my 80's rock station on Pandora Radio as I blog because they do rock but Journey just came on...
Journey totally rocks!
Now, I just need a few REO Speedwagon songs and my music night is complete. Yes, AC/DC has already graced my ears. But Joan Jett...really?
Pandora do you really need the political commercials? Anyway,I am voting for the 'other guy' but I will still take advantage of the free music.
Ok back to Skid Row...I Remember You, Too!!!
You do rock!!!
There is really nothing like '80's rock well '70's is pretty cool,too...
Enough of that.
I am telling you what you already know,anyway.
~Smile~
Random Friday pictures
Jeff brought me home a special treat this evening.
Bruegger's is about the only thing I miss about 'the cities'.
As well as my old church and the friends and family we left to go that hour south.
The girls made Josiah some birthday cupcakes.
We will officially celebrate his birthday Sunday but today is his official birthday day so cupcakes are in order.
Down in the 'teen cave'.
He must really be tired...
'cause he did not even finish his delish' white cracker before he nodded off.
Old Events
"Sad are the days when the glory is gone from the earth, when we look about us with tired eyes, dimmed by the sediment of fatigue, and find we no longer can see beauty or wonder or drama in commonplace scenes."
~from the book Circle of the Seasons by Edwin Way Teal
Some days are like that for me.
I get tired.
I forget the beauty of the simple every day common things that pass by without so much as a glance.
My eyes are dimmed.
I find myself saying quite often "I'll look in just a minute" but that minute is quickly swept away with more pressing things.
Somedays I am blind.
The feet will not stay tiny forever.
The sweet thoughtful color pictures and handmade cards are coming less often these days as the kids get bigger and busier.
But yet when I am graced with such a lovely gift, I still find myself passing them by or stacking them in a pile without spending that time to appreciate them.
Take a step back ,Tina.
Look around.
Breath.
See the beauty.
