Grant and Alan got Smolder as a stray from a friend of a friend.He was only about 4 weeks old and has lost his mother.Poor little guy.He had an emergency vet visit a few days after the boys adopted him.The vet said Smolders was just hours from death's door then.We thought Smolders was doing fine these last few weeks but this morning woke up very sick again.Of course, all the kids are very sad.They will miss Smolders.There was not a more perfect home for Smolders to spend his short life than with us.He had MANY little hearts to love him.

Grant and Alan wanted to plant something over his grave as a remembrance.We thought the perfect thing would be one of our strawberry plants because it would grow year after year. The fence is so Jeff would not mow over it with the Lawnmower.
Everyone understood somewhat about what happened to Smolders but Joel a few hours later told me he heard Smolders screaming from under the ground.
Jeff will take Grant and Alan to the humane society this week to see about another kitten.Grant said that was a good idea because he just did not want to stay sad for very long.He was real sad because he spent his allowance money on a color to match Smolders' fur and Smolders never got to wear it yet.He wanted Smolders to have gotten to wear it.A new flood of tears began.Poor kids.
