Something I Overheard Yesterday

"Joel, when you are not busy do you think you can get a needle and thread to sew up the hole in my pants."

"Sure, Lily. I don't mind. I can do that."

A few thoughts crossed my mind...

How sweet that a nine year old can do (and is willing to do) such awesome big kid tasks in the eyes of a six year old.

How sweet that in the mind of a nine year old, he can handle such big kid tasks with awesome confidence.

How less than sweet to realise your six year old needs to ask her nine year old brother to sew up a hole in her pants because the mom, this mom, moi, is 'too busy' sewing other things for pretty much imaginary people. Haha.

Anyway, the humbling sting was quickly pushed away by this sight.

I just could not get over the huge blue hat on Joel's head.

Don't let him know just how precious it looks.

Please.

He would then take it off and never put it back on again.

And then he will, all of the sudden, be 'closer to ten' than 'just turned nine'.

And more proof that I am loved.

A Random Day

A special banana, walnut, chocolate chip heart pancake Josh made for me for supper.

The starting of p.j. bottoms for Anya. I was able to squeeze in a pair for Lily thanks to the fabric design not being one directional. Cut them out this evening and will sew them up tomorrow.

It is cute flannel, isn't it? All this flannel I had in my stash was meant to be Christmas pajamas a few Christmas' ago for the girls. Well, at least I am getting around to making them!

How will these ever get clean?! I already soaked, scrubbed, and washed these and they still look like this. Any tips?

Another garage sale find that a few boys and I wagoned home last week.

A Random Day

Today was a pretty intense day.

Mondays tend to be that way.

Are they that way at your house?

I really did not wake up crabby.

Honest.

Just do not ask the kids for their opinion.

They get confused sometimes.

They do.

I was not trying to micro managing things.

Honest.

I did not have a bee in my bonnet.

Really.

Honest.

Ok, maybe I had a little attitude.

Maybe, just maybe I had an edge to me.

Ok, ok I might have had a few *just a few* bees in my bonnet.

Sigh.

I want to start today all over.

Correct the damage I have done.

Un-hurt the feelings I hurt.

I have to say I have a very forgiving, gracious family.

A mom needs that.

This mom really needs that.

Tomorrow will be better.

Gee,can it really be over 20 years old?

I sure am an oldie. But the song is still great.

A Lazy Monday

I am so tired tonight.

I can not think of one clever witty thing to say.

So forgive my dry blog post.

Tired.

And cold.

An early night under my cozy blankets sounds very good.

Before I go...

I did make a cute Christmas tie for Joel and also a few for my Etsy shop.

Be warned.

More ties are in the works.

But isn't this so cute!

If you have never made a tie before they are SO simple to make. The pattern I have has Velcro closer.

Josiah had a football potluck this evening and he was supposed to bring a dessert that served eight. Eight! I was not sure I even remembered how to make something that served a single digit number of people. I dug out the 9x9 pan. It was awful dusty!
