From Our Lips To God's Ear
Tuesday...
Child,"Why does dad not buy jelly much anymore?"
Mom,"I'm not quite sure why.He must just forget."
Child,"It would sure be nice to have some jelly."
Mom,"Well, maybe Dad will get some next week when he shops."
Wednesday someone rings the bell.It is a sweet lady from church wondering if we would like some grape jelly she made.Sure We would LOVE some!
Lunch is served!Peanut butter and jelly on bread!
Very tasty!

Lily, the little fashion bug
The Borns from our church brought over a box of very cute baby clothes all the way from Virginia.Mrs. Born's daughter lives down there.

Now with a new box of such cute clothes we just needed a fashion show!

I'm still here
There have been fun things happening this past few weeks but I just have been a little blue lately not participating in many of them.Maybe a combination of being worn out and down in the dumps.Turning 40 (last week)has been kind of a mental road block for me but as I sit here wallowing in the inevitable fact that I will continue to get older life around here is still going full speed.I wish I could stop it all for a few days and catch my breath.I just thought being 40 was a little different than it actually is.O well.I just stepped off the track for a little bit to sit on the sidelines.I'll get back on soon enough!
Nothing to get me motivated like changing my blog look again! The alternative was to discontinue my blog only to have a change of heart in a few days and start in up again.
I do have some good pictures from my spot on the sidelines that I will back post.
I also am changing my Dragonfrye Quilts site look.We had bought a laptop last month and boy how different the web world looks from a new computer!I was very embarrassed at the state of Dragonfrye Quilts when I saw it on 'the big screen'.I had NO idea it looked that bad.I'm trying to get it looking better thanks to the feed back and computer knowledge of my sister Missy.Now if I can only get brother-in-law Lee to give me a few pointers (hint hint) the three people who actually visit my site might not be met with such a web eye sore!OK the three people are Missy,Lynn,and myself.I'm also my biggest blog reader.I visit that Dragonfrye News countless times a day just to delight in my cleverness.Thank you my loyal quilt friends!

JULY FREE QUILT GIVEAWAY!
It is once again time for my...
FREE QUILT DRAWING GIVEAWAY!
I chose this Winnie the Pooh baby blanket for my July drawing.
It measures about 30 x 36"
I quilted it in the ditch and then added blue yarn ties to the center square.
You can not tell by the picture but the outer most border is dark blue corduroy.It looks black in the photo.I think the corduroy adds a nice unique texture.
I used Warm and Natural as the batting and the backing is dark blue cotton material.The quilt can be machine washed and dried

Waseca's All School Reunion Parade
Here we are waiting for the fun to start!
We heard Mr. Avery Hall was at the end of the block watching the parade so we stopped by to say hello to him and his daughter.Mr Hall has so many neat things to tell about.He told the kids he lost his toe nails because of jungle rot but really he assured them he only misses them when he needs to climb a tree.Did you know he was the mayor of Waseca for I think 12 years.

The parade starts.We even remember to stand and put our hands over our heart as the flag goes by
The Waseca Posse coming to keep my kids in line.No fear the Jesse James Gang only shows up in February during the Sleigh and Ice Cutter parade.They do stir up a bit of trouble though.
The Shriner's in their crazy little cars,beeping their horns
Only in a small town do the John Deer tractors show up by the dozens in a parade
The fire trucks always signal the end of the parade

July 4th,2008
Elena and I participated in a one mile walk/run down at Clear Lake.We walked our mile in a speedy 16 minute 40 seconds!We were in last place.We then rested by the beach that was not as clear as it's name would have you believe.
Elena,Grant,Alan and I then walked over to Hyvee to get a donuts any something to drink.It was very relaxing after such a hard work out.
I was still brooding about my birthday and stayed in bed for our 4th of July meal and stayed back with Lily for the fireworks.I heard the kids all had a lot of fun.

Hmm...This is what 40 feels like
I'm not so sure I like it.I am told by many that they rather like the 40's decade of their life.That their 20' or 30's met them with a some uncertainty and and a lot of energy spent trying to figure out who they really were.I also heard that the 40's are the new 30's.I am thinking it is just rather scary.
I remember my mom turning 40.I was 18 and starting my first year at the U of M.I do not even remember calling her to wish er Happy Birthday.I think she just slipped into her 40's with out much hub bub.My dad did as well.I believe I was in 11th grade when my dad turned 40.I do remember that was the start of his Juvenile Diabetes catching up to him at an extreme pace...in those next few years he would remind me he was living life through me so to do as much as I can.Well,I took the following God route which probably was not the most exiting life for him to live through but God used it to help lead him to the Lord. Anyway,I think if I knew back then how I feel about it now I would have payed attention.
Jeff does not mind at all being in his 40's and gets rather bothered by my doom and gloom outlook.I am continually asking statistical questions (good thing he is a statistician) of things like what are the odds of something bad happening because we are so much older... (see I'm not at all a Proverb's 31 Woman.There is no laughing at things to come in my mind!)Of course, statistics are not swayed by worry wort mom's like me and the numbers do not always feed into my cloudy perspective.
But what can I do 40 is 40.There is nothing I can do about it but still it was supposed to look different than it does.
OK, now comes out the photo album!A reminiscing brooding mood needs pictures to reflects just how much time has passed!
This first one is my baby baptism.I'm the baby on my mom's lap ( a young 22 year old she was) then my two older sisters Heidi and Tammy.Then my godparents Aunti Sandy and Uncle Gene and my three cousins.We are all on our living room couch.
I must be contemplating live all alone on the couch much like I am now.I looked rather humored by some passing thought.
Lily looks a tad like me in this baby picture or it could be just the overall goofy baby smile
My first birthday with my sisters Heidi and Tammy
Just to show I was not as goofy looking as I grew!I loved my little Sheep stuffty guy.It had a zipper that I could store my pjs in.Pretty cool!
Well,sorry no picture of me 40 years later.Just imagine a 5'3" 140+ pound overweight mom who carried/birthed 8 children and has hips like well that are just big,a bad hair cut I gave myself (never give yourself a hair cut when you are having a bad day),grey at the temples,sun damage from all the tanning beds I visited in my 20s and 30s and a sour attitude.If you can picture all that you successfully pictured me today.
