Some Little House Activity

I thought we would go through the Little House on the Prairie books this winter.

YouTube has the books on audio! Ya!! I do not do well reading out loud. I get distracted, antsy, out of breath, crabby. claustrophobic... so the audio books on YouTube, that is an awesome thing. I can spend more time on the fun things like...

Teaching the kids how to make jam from scratch like Ma might have.

Odell's strawberry jam

Josh's cranberry jam

The butter making crew.

Ekie, Grace, Naomi, and Anya

Joel test tasting the cranberries

Our Little House spread.

Tasty treats to eat as they listen to the first few Little House in the Big Woods chapters.

The biscuts are not like Ma would make. I took the easy way out and used the biscuts in the cans.

The butter was amazing

and so was the jam

Fun,fun day!

Happy Birthday, Anya!!!

Anya turned 11 years old yesterday!

Happy birthday, Anya!!!!!

I LOVE you!!

Don't all kids ask for cat treats as a birthday present?

Do not mention to Nolan or Josh you saw them on my blog.

Promise?

Nolan is looking a little like Keanu Reeves in this picture, isn't he?

Ok, Josh is just so cute. There is no one like Josh. He is a sweetheart!

A Nice Day In Pictures

There were some pretty nice fall days this past week!

I took advantage of hanging some fabric and miscellaneous laundry out to dry. It might be the last time until next spring!

Isn't Lily's dress gorgeous? I wish I could make something like this! It was from a bin of clothes that was passed on to us. I LOVE it!!

Hmm...this look like Joel and Lily but there is something not quite right...

Never Been Cool. It's A Mom Thing.

I like to catch the highlights of Jimmy Fallon on Hulu. He is very funny especially him and Justin Timberlake. They work well together. I have an odd sense of humor. I take after my dad.

Anyway, I caught this video of Jimmy, his house band, and Mylie Cyrus singing this song. It actually does not sound bad at all. I like it. I am not saying I am convinced the content is the best but she sings very well.

Her hair reminded me of a hair cut I had many, many moons ago so I had to dig it out.

I believe this was taken in 1988.I was nineteen or 20,I believe. The picture was taken by none other than Chris, the husband over at the Zoo!Barb and Chris remember this!!?

The kids assure me that I could not ever have been very cool so my haircut could not have been cool or anything like Mylie's.

They are right. I have never been cool. Unique or 'special' is more of a description of me then and now. I have become more 'special' as the years go on.

It is interesting that styles or spin-offs of them come and go through the years.

Another Pair Done

I finished up another pair of p.j. bottoms. This time I made a pair of these purple frog ones for Anya and a little pair for Lily.

I will need to finish up the rest before it gets too cold outside!

A Random Day

A special banana, walnut, chocolate chip heart pancake Josh made for me for supper.

The starting of p.j. bottoms for Anya. I was able to squeeze in a pair for Lily thanks to the fabric design not being one directional. Cut them out this evening and will sew them up tomorrow.

It is cute flannel, isn't it? All this flannel I had in my stash was meant to be Christmas pajamas a few Christmas' ago for the girls. Well, at least I am getting around to making them!

How will these ever get clean?! I already soaked, scrubbed, and washed these and they still look like this. Any tips?

Another garage sale find that a few boys and I wagoned home last week.

A window ready for Halloween thanks to Joel,Josh, and Lily

A cat named Pippy enjoying this evening's rain storm.

A princess named Lily really wanting to run in the rain but it is way too late.

Two More Pair (or is it pairs?)

Since I had p.j. pants patterns out and have a good size pile of flannel fabric I bought a few years ago, I thought I would make some of the girls p.j. bottoms.

I made this pair for Naomi.

I had a little fabric left over so I made a size three pair not thinking they would fit Lily, but they did. Well, the length was a little short so I added the extra solid lavender cuff at the leg bottoms.

Once she put them on it was hard to get them off.

In fact, they have been on her body for the past two days and nights.

I say, I made a winner!

A little look at Lily's jewelry box game.

A Little Treat

Elena made these very fun cookies this evening!

A closer look.

Cookie dough ( chocolate chip without the chocolate chips) baked in tiny muffin tins with a mini Reece's peanut butter cup placed in the middle after the cookie dough crust was cooked. Kind of like a thumb print cookie.

They are SO good!

Jeff brought me home some flowers this evening. Very sweet guy!

P.S. Missing Grant very much. He is in Ghana now safe and sound and doing well.
