As this year's HeavenWord Handlers basketball performance team season winds down the HeavenWord Handlers had the opportunity to performed tonight during halftime at both the Waseca boys B squad and varsity games against St Peter here at home.
They did great!!
There were some changes in the team members since last year.
Grant, Alan, Cyrus, and Joyce have gotten a little old to be on the team.
Joyce still performed at a few performances earlier this season.
Grant did the pole at a few of the performances earlier in the season,as well.
It did make me a little sad that they are growing up so fast.
On the other hand Nolan, Josh, Odell, Ekie, Naomi, and Anya still make up a portion of the team.
Along with my kids, there is a whole new group of very talented kids who are wonderful!!!
Joel, Grace, and one of the Dufault girls were in the performance for the first time tonight.
They all did SO good!!!!!
The HeavenWord Handler's last performance is Friday night in Waterville.
This was the only performance I made it to this year so I made sure I took a bunch of pictures!!

Jeff relaxing on the porch in between fair visits.
We just live down the street from our county fair grounds so we visit the fair many times each day.
The kids lemonade stand sales are going strong.

Anya helping sell lemonade
Our kids helped try and break the Guinness Book of Records for the most people to spin basketballs at one time.

Quiet Day
Today, Jeff and ten of our kids are up in the Cities with the rest of the Heavenword Handler performance team providing the half time entertainment in two halftime shows at the MCAA boy’s tourney at Maranatha High School.
It leaves me with a small crowd to manage.
I decided with all the quiet I have I would start machine quilting some quilts.
Up right now...

I quilted this one earlier.

Three more waiting.

My goal is to get to these tomorrow so I can get my quilting machine put away before Monday.
I will see. A few of the kids are not feeling very well...

Bonus Night!!
Friday was a bonus night!
It was parents night at the girls basketball game.
Although I missed Joyce's actual JV game (sorry Joyce!!) she still brought me a beautiful rose.
Ah. That was SO sweet!!!
Lily thought it was like a princess being handed a rose.

AND...
guess who was the evening half time show during the girls varsity basketball game!?
Waseca's very own Heavenword Handlers!!!
I was able to get a few seconds of the end of the Handler's performance on camera.
See.
That is a bonus night!!!

Saturday Feb 9th the team will be performing during both the Woman and Men's basketball halftime show at Augsburg college who will be hosting St. Olaf.

Girls B-Squad
I am so pleased that I figured out our scanner a few months back.
I thought I would scan in Joyce's basketball picture.
What a beautiful young lady Joyce is!!

We should be getting Alan and Josiah's basketball pictures soon.
Cyrus's basketball season did not start yet but I will make sure I get pictures for him when the time comes!
Sadly, our district dropped JV boys basketball so Grant could not play school ball this year. He is too old for B squad and the coach already had a full varsity team. Many boys were left with no way to play basketball this year. I am SO thankful for our Waseca FCA chapter (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). They formed a Sunday night league for all interested highschooler basketball players to form teams and play each other. The only requirement? One can not be playing on the varsity team.
For those who remember, our kids are still performing with the HeavenWord Handlers.
They had a performance last week in Waterville and a possible performance next week in Janesville.
Here is a great must see promo video! You will notice many of our kids if you look close!

What A Gathering!
This past Sunday evening we had the privilege of hosting a FCA HeavenWord Handlers family gathering at our house. I heard there were about thirty five adults and children in attendance! Wow! Good thing we have a roomy house! A gathering usually means...
People

and more people

a dash of cuteness...I was meaning Lily and Grace, but Ok, Ok Mr Gjovik you too.

Great food!
Thanks Coach John and FCA for bringing the pizza, guests for bringing the yummy desserts, and our own Elena for the great side dishes!

and lots of fun!!

BlueJay Pride Night!
This evening was Waseca Bluejay Pride Night.
We all had the privilege of going to the Varsity Boys Basketball game! Unfortunately, none of our kids were playing in this particular game. Grant is on the B team, Alan is on the 8th grade team, and Joyce is on the girls 9th grade team. But it sure was fun to watch the varsity game anyway! The Bluejays won 61-48 win over St. James. They did a great job!!!
Here they are in action!
The Bluejays are the boys in blue. Ha Ha. I think I hear a certain child of mine in my head saying "Duh mom. Of course the Bluejays are the ones in blue". But just in case there are some out there reading that are a little slow like me,I thought I would mention it.

I sat on one side of the gym with these eight cute children. Elena also sat with me but was camera shy.

While Jeff was on the other side of the gym with none other than the halftime show...and guess who the half time show would be?
Our very own
HeavenWord Handlers!!!
See them all over there in their bright yellow shirts?

Just in case you are wondering, HeavenWord Handlers is a local FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Basketball Handling Performance team. Grant, Alan, Cyrus, Joyce, and Nolan are a part of the team along with friends Shane, his brother Cole, and Rochelle.
Here the HeavenWord Handlers are just starting their performance.

Grant doing a spinning trick. (I'm sorry for the very fuzzy pictures)

Cyrus spinning the ball while doing a somersault.

Alan doing a double dribble trick.

Grant spinning a basketball on a very tall crappy pole.

I missed getting pictures of Joyce and Nolan doing their tricks but hopefully I will get some at another one of their performances.
What a great job they all did!!!
After the game, the varsity players took the time to autograph Bluejay Pride posters for all who wanted. The kids just thought it was very neat.
I was SO glad we were able to all be there to watch!!!

Alexandria Aces
Coach John who is the kids FCA HeavenWord Handlers Baseketball Performance Team coach and Jeff took some of the Waseca HeavenWord Handlers up to Minnetonka to watch the Alexandria Aces perform during the Special Olympics Spring games this evening. I think the kids came away with a few new basketball trick ideas.
