As this year's HeavenWord Handlers basketball performance team season winds down the HeavenWord Handlers had the opportunity to performed tonight during halftime at both the Waseca boys B squad and varsity games against St Peter here at home.
They did great!!
There were some changes in the team members since last year.
Grant, Alan, Cyrus, and Joyce have gotten a little old to be on the team.
Joyce still performed at a few performances earlier this season.
Grant did the pole at a few of the performances earlier in the season,as well.
It did make me a little sad that they are growing up so fast.
On the other hand Nolan, Josh, Odell, Ekie, Naomi, and Anya still make up a portion of the team.
Along with my kids, there is a whole new group of very talented kids who are wonderful!!!
Joel, Grace, and one of the Dufault girls were in the performance for the first time tonight.
They all did SO good!!!!!
The HeavenWord Handler's last performance is Friday night in Waterville.
This was the only performance I made it to this year so I made sure I took a bunch of pictures!!

And It is a 13th Birthday!!
Odell Charisse Frye
A beloved song.
That is the meaning of Odell's name.
Odell (song)
Charisse (beloved)
Odell is a beautiful young lady.
She has a terrific fashion sense.
She has patients beyond her years.
Odell is indeed my beloved song.
Like how I snuck in this picture with Josiah and Cyrus in the background?
Do not tell them.
He he.
Some might think I just made them up by how little they are on my blog.
They are alive and well.
Just blog shy.
Aren't they growing up SO fast?!!

Valentine's Prep
"Three layers of moist cake topped with creamy icing is like a slice of heaven.
Knowing it’s as close as your freezer... well, that’s even better."
Knowing it’s as close as your freezer... well, that’s even better."
Yum. Yum.
Nothing like a little Pepperige Farms.
Thanks Jeff!!!!
Elena and I are going to make a special handmade treat for all the kids for Valentine's Day.
Can you figure out what the treat might be?
Here is a hint...
I am also going to make homemade Valentine's cards with goodies.
It will be a fun day of projects.
I will show you the finished Valentine's goodies tomorrow.
I hope they turn out as pretty and as special as I envision they will.
I think they will...
We are also making individual Valentine pizzas as well as celebrating Odell's birthday Valentine's evening.
It is also our Friday 'movie night'.
Wow!
A triple fun time!!!
I will sleep in a bit on Saturday...

Something I Overheard Yesterday
"Joel, when you are not busy do you think you can get a needle and thread to sew up the hole in my pants."
"Sure, Lily. I don't mind. I can do that."
A few thoughts crossed my mind...
How sweet that a nine year old can do (and is willing to do) such awesome big kid tasks in the eyes of a six year old.
How sweet that in the mind of a nine year old, he can handle such big kid tasks with awesome confidence.
How less than sweet to realise your six year old needs to ask her nine year old brother to sew up a hole in her pants because the mom, this mom, moi, is 'too busy' sewing other things for pretty much imaginary people. Haha.
Anyway, the humbling sting was quickly pushed away by this sight.
I just could not get over the huge blue hat on Joel's head.
Don't let him know just how precious it looks.
Please.
He would then take it off and never put it back on again.
And then he will, all of the sudden, be 'closer to ten' than 'just turned nine'.
And more proof that I am loved.

Randoms
Two almost finished skirts.
I am going to miss getting them into my Etsy shop for Valentine's Day.
Oh well.
At least they will be ready for next year.
Like I say, I am always thinking steps ahead of the the rest...
~Sigh~
Yes, yes, that was said tongue and cheek.
You were not supposed to tell, you know.
It is all about the illusion..
But truth, I am usually miles behind...
Moving on.
A little Fancy Nancy
Moving on a little further...
The perfect candle.
Much care was taken by Josh to preserve the perfectly placed wax drips.
To conclude this post I would like to quote Fancy Nancy from her Favorite Fancy Words book shown above,
"répondez s'il vous plaît"
aka: RSVP
Hm...realizing that fancy set of words does not apply right now.
Does this introduce an awkward moment into the content of my post?
Kind of thinking it does.
Maybe I will change the fancy words to:
Passez une bonne nuit!!
aka: have a good night!

Gotta Love...
those older brothers
who take time out for their little siblings
and make them feel special.
Can I take a little credit for raising them right?
Well, my selfish pride would like to say yes
...but...
My heart knows that they far exceed anything my feeble mom teaching abilities could pass on
and that
it is a Holy Spirit kind of thing...

Elena at the Sewing Machine
She took some of this
and went to work
to create something fun
something original
all for the newest Icon For Hire Project Rockstar Sewing Challenge 2.0
She did not end up entering it in the challenge because time ran out before she could finish but we both learned a few new sewing techniques to carry with to a future challenge.
Here is Ariel's from Icon For Hire Project Rockstar Sewing Challenge 2.0 video promotion.

A Small Weekend Sewing Project
I thought I would sew up a few Valentine's skirts this weekend.
So far here is the one that I finished.
I really like how it turned out. The plaid was from Hancock fabrics and the paisley was from Hobby Lobby. Perfect combo, I think.
I have the other two Valentine skirts almost finished. I will try to finish them tomorrow evening.
I would have finished all three skirts this weekend but I got side tracked by some 5 inch squares that I had the urge to whip up into a quilt top.
This week I hopefully will have time to finish three baby blankets for gifts. It is pretty ambitious. I will see how the week unfolds.
Finished projects coming soon!
