Church Beer?

Our church called us up to let us know that there were a few boxes in the church office with our name on them.

We had no idea what the boxes contained. Jeff went over to pick the boxes up.

Look at all the food!

How very unexpected and kind that was!!

As the kids were looking through the boxes Joel came running out shouting with lots of excitement "They gave us beer! Mom, they gave us beer!"

Ha Ha! Well we knew that could not be so had Joel bring the beer to us...

I suppose to a little six year old this looks like beer.

I just love Joel.

And Thanks Christ Community Church!

Let's Have A Sale

Joel has been anxious to make a little money to spend at the dollar store.

He has been asking for days to have a sale.

I finally gave in.

My hesitation was that he has such high expectations and I did not want him to get disappointed.

Joel and Grace waiting for customers.

What is for sale?

Puzzle books

Telescopes

Oreo cookies

Joel had a good crowd and made about $1.37.

This is were having a lot of siblings comes in handy.

Happy 16th Grant!!!!!

Happy 16th birthday Grant!!!!!!!!

With the lives of my two oldest being so busy it has been hard to get them to take a moment to celebrate their birthdays!!

We still have yet to celebrate Elena's 17th birthday which was on June 20th since she had just gotten back from a mission trip to New Orleans.

In-between general Sunday craziness, Grant's itching to go play basketball to break in his new basketball shoes, Grant,Alan and Joyce needing to get ready to leave for their FCA basketball camp Monday morning, and adding to that three of the boys' friends sleeping over, Elena just getting back from her New Orleans trip and then her off to a bonfire with old friends we found about an hour to celebrate Grant's 16th birthday which was actually on June 22nd!

Crazy!!

I do not believe Grant feels slighted at all.

His view was the 'let's get it over with so I can move on with my day' type of thing.

Happy birthday Grant!!!!!!

Here is something most people did not know about Grant. When he was three months old he had heart surgery. He had something called a Corarctation of the Aorta.I probably spelled that wrong. He did not need open heart surgery because the aorta was able to be repaired going in from his side.

Just for fun I dug up a few pictures.

Here Grant and myself in Sept 1995 soon after his surgery. He was SO tiny!

Grant me and Jeff.

As you must realize Elena and Grant are one year two days apart. Alan was born a few months before Elena turned three and Grant two. Ha Ha how I made it through those years I do not know!

Another fun thing about this last picture is that we took it on the set of Jingle All The Way. Pretty cool!

I Just Might Be...

a little odd.

Just a little.

This last Saturday I had a hankering to sew outside.

In the middle of the night.

It was so nice.

I like being a little odd.

It's ok.

I do not mind.

Asparagus

A friend dropped over a bag of garden fresh asparagus last week.

I had never cooked asparagus before.

The pot was in use to cook spaghetti noodles so I fried the asparagus on the griddle with olive oil and garlic salt.

The asparagus was a hit at our house!!

Father's Day...

Part 3...?

Well what can I say...

He can be a clown sometimes.

Jeff thought he would take a little jump in the pool after his Father's Day dinner.

Climbing a tree might be meant for the younger generations...

Too bad Jeff was afraid to actually let go of the tree.

I won't be so hard on him though.

It is Father's Day after all.

Happy Father's Day!!!

Part 2!!!!

While the boys were out working up an appetite, the rest of us were back home getting things ready for that special man of the hour.

Lily surveying the tables

The girls picked pretty flowers for the table centerpieces

The hungry crew!!

Pippy hoping for a few scraps to be thrown his way.

Who said birthday candles are only for birthdays!!

and the Happy Birthday song can easily be switched to the Happy Father's Day song.

We think out of the box over in the southern part of the land of 10,000 lakes.

Happy Father's Day!!!!

Part 1

On Father's Day afternoon Jeff and the boys (minus Joel) went to a park to play ball.

By the looks of the pictures they had a lot of fun!!!

Some with a corny sense of humor would say it looks like they had a ball!!

Get it baseball...

I'm not the corny joke teller.

It was someone else...

The boys in action!!!!

P.S. Missing you Elena on your birthday!!!!

Happy 17th!!!

Don't worry, you will get your birthday post when you get back next week.

I do not think I can bare you being gone for that long though.

I'm lonesome for you.
