I can Only Say...

Yummmmmmmm!!!

Warmly,A Dragonfrye Mom

P.S. It is french toast with cherry pie filling and powdered sugar on top.

Just in case you are politely wondering to yourself what is on the plate.

My cooking usually is pretty unidentifiable.

I like it that way.

It keeps an element of suprise and mystery alive at the meal table!

P.S.S. Thanks Cathy!!!!!!!

At The Sewing Table

I thought I would work on a little sewing this weekend.

I think that these two combos would make fun skirts.

I will see how much I actually get done between tomorrow and Monday.

I tend to over estimate the amount of free time I have.

and I am feeling very feverish. Not good.

I will try out this skirt pattern.

which is from this book.

I LOVE this book!!

A Friday Night Under The Stars

in which I skipped and slept snugly in my bed...

until the power went off at around 6:30 am Saturday morning

~sigh~

I can not sleep without my fans...my six fans...the house gets noisy.

but because I was up I thought I would snap a few pictures of our star sleepers from my bedroom window.

You might be noticing the big dirt patches in our yard.

Ha ha.

Our yard could be ground zero for Waseca's first dust storm someday.

The dirt patches really do not bother me at all.

But the patches do bother Jeff.

He hopes by Elena's graduation party (June 24th. Mark your calenders!!) the dirt patches will miraculously grow grass.

I think that can happen.

I really do.

Who Am I Anyway?!

Sometimes I go through these moments of wondering who am I supposed to be when I grow up.

It then hits me that I already am grown up!

Then I think well who am anyway?!

Sometimes the reality of who I am hits hard 'cause I am not so sure I like who I have become.

I thought things would look and feel different.

I hate to admit that I often act kind of toddler-ish.

Quite often, in fact...

Way too often.

There are then times that I think things are not so bad.

I am rather pleased with my life.

Then I go back to acting so toddler-ish again.

Feet stamping and all.

Those darn toddler years!

Lord, when will I ever be big...?

I want to be big!!

Mother's Day Part 2

Wasn't the song Jeff sang to me on Mother's Day just so sweet!!

If you have not watched it yet...

well that makes me sad...

and shows that you might be a tad envious...

'cause I have one awesome husband with a great voice...

I am guessing your husband would not sing for you?

Just guessing.

That's ok.

Mother's Day candy is a fine gift, too.

Your husband did well.

You know I am just teasing, don't you?

I would never sing for my husband.

Well not as a gift, anyway...

Maybe if I was bothered at him and wanted to do the cruelest thing I could think of to make him suffer.

I would sing to him then.

I would.

Anyway.

Some of the kids sang songs to me as well but the video I took on my camera did not turn out at all.

I was SO sad!

I decided to make the next best thing!!

Make a slide show of pictures of our weekend and using the audio of my Mother's Day concert!

I am not a pro but enjoy!!!

Mini French Toast

If say you were ever given lots and lots and lots of hot dog buns (thank you Borns!!!!!!!!)...

...you know, the real nice fluffy bakery ones...

and say you have a young lady who happens to be turning 18 (yikes!! )real soon...

and say you have a hankering for a special tea party with mini food and everything with this almost 18 year old (did I say yikes!!! yet?)...

but if suggested to the almost 18 year old (yikes again!!!) she would NEVER go for it 'cause she is not the

tea party type

any more but the

rock 'n roll type...

Appeal to the french toast lover in her.

Mention how these nice fluffy hot dog buns would make great french toast.

Even suggest she make some to share with a certain you.

Ha Ha

Before she knows it...

she is smack dab in the middle of a tea party ( mini food and all!) with you!!!

But let her bring her phone with.

Just in case she might want to

tweet

about it.

Try it.

It just might work!!!

Warmly,A Dragonfrye Mom

P.S. It took me about two hours to figure out how to HTMLthe fancy writing into this post.

I'm just that good!!

It Is Finished!

Remember the dress I started making for Odell way back in January?

I finally finished it.

Actually, the better thing to say is I finally had some time to finish it!!

I only had a few hours left of work to do on it before I put it away few months ago.

Apparently, there was a need to use our dining room table (imagine that) so I cleared the table off.

Then school planning took up my spare time and the table so no time (or space) to sew until this past Friday night.

I had not had Odell try it on,yet. I hope it fits! It took so long to finish it and Odell is growing so fast.

I was also exited because I used the labels I made a few weeks ago.

Gee, I sure like how the dress turned out!

A closer look at my label. Ha ha It is pretty neat looking.

I added a full length cotton lining with a lace hem and extended it past the dress hem. I thought it would give the dress a little more depth.

I added one of my labels to the bottom left hem, also. I thought it would make the dress more 'boutique' looking.

I can not wait to see how Odell looks in it.

Can't wait!!

Enjoying The Sun

This was where we spent our school time this past Wednesday!

No basement, no matter how quiet, can compete with beautiful weather!!!

and remember yesterday's post when I mentioned that we talked about trees during school the afternoon of our Wednesday night kids time?

Here was part of our class in action!

(as well as Elena painting her nails)

Another Great Wednesday Night Kids Time

This past Wednesday evening for our Wednesday evening kids club Jeff loaded the van with our 5th grade and younger children (most of the older kids were doing various other activities) and took us to Loon Lake to talk about Psalm 1 and look at the trees planted by the shore of the lake.

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 1

It worked out perfect 'cause the kids and I were talking about trees in school that afternoon.

We had a blast!

Ah...Grant and his girl (Jordan) joined us. Now that has to say something about our family doesn't it? Our older teen and his sweetie wanting to tag along.

It was at about this point that we called it a night well spent.

Well...after a stop at the grocery store to get ice cream sandwiches!

Jeff.

It's time to go.

Jeff, it's really time to go home now.

Don't make me count to ten.

OOOKKK.

One,two,three...

A Dragonfrye Mom
