How About a Cup of Lemonade!

Today was our 4th Annual Waseca Fair Lemonade Stand.

I set up a few tables of my quilts and other sewing items to sell as well.

Here is the second shift of Lemonade sellers.

The bigger kids were getting ready to perform with the HeavenWord Handlers at the fair so the younger girls took over the stand for a while.

The day was pretty cool so we did not get a lot of business but it was enough to give the kids each a little Fair spending money.

Our Creative Arts At The Fair

The kids worked very hard on their projects that they submitted in the fair.

Great job kids!!!

Josh's July Coupon

I've surviving the first day of the fair. Most of you probably do not know that we are just a block away from the Waseca County Fair grounds so it gets VERY busy during the summer around here especially during fair week. I really enjoy it all. We first fell in love with this house back six years ago during fair week.

I do kind of get embarrassed if my kids are out in the yard screaming, shouting, or fighting while the fair goers are walking by. I have this no outside screaming/fighting/showing off/shouting out the windows/or standing around staring at the folks passing by rule during fair week. I guess it sounds like a don't be a kid this week kind of rule doesn't it? It is kind of hard to enforce but this year has not been so bad.

Josh redeemed his July birthday coupon this evening. The coupon was for a trip to the fair with just the two of us. We had a good time.

I could not think of a fancy blog post title today so the date will just have to do. Hope you do not mind!

The Waseca County Fair starts tomorrow so today was a VERY busy day getting all the kids' projects finished and entered over at the Creative Arts building. There were last minute picture touch ups, things to bake, fruit to be made into creations...I have thirteen young procrastinators and one disorganised mom (that would be me). I'm tired. I had misplaced my camera so I did not get any pictures of our fair prep. Sad. The kids made some very neat things! I will take pictures of all the kids crafts displayed sometime this weekend.

I entered one of my baby quilts and a christening dress I made into the adult Creative Arts area. Remember what a challenge making the christening dresses were for me? I like the feed back I get from the judges. It helps me work on areas that I might not otherwise think to work on.

I decided to take Erica's advice and use The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading. So the plan is two children will be learning with 100 Easy Lessons, two with Bob Jones K Phonics, and two with Ordinary Parents. It will break up my school teaching a little and give this old mom a little variety. I hope by the end of the year I will have some emerging readers around here. That would make school teaching a little easier for me!

I know I said last month I would NOT introduce any more new sewing projects into my project to do list but I have not been doing a good job with that promise. I was at Hancock Fabrics this past weekend and look what I found! I am a HUGE fan of fabric book panels. Not sure why. Gee,I must have over...well...I won't say but I have a lot. BUT I do not have this one. I just had to get it. JUST SO ABSOLUTLY DARLING!!!

I was extra please because the fabric book panel had coordinating fabric. I do not always come across that. Just had to get a little of this as well.

Now, no reason to buy this other than it was just cute. Very unneeded but cute!

Just a Random Thought

All you moms (and dads) will not argue that there are those days when being a parent is just plain hard. But in the mist of those hard days there are little moments that can get lost unnoticed amongst the craziness. It can take a lot to force me out of my task orientated, treading water, putting out fires,or damage control modes but sometimes those moments grab my attention. I want to fuse them into my memory never to be forgotten. Not necessarily because the moments were profound in amongst themselves but because of what they represent to me. These moments represent a passing of time, a season in my life that will soon be pushed back to let in a new season.

What grabbed my attention the other day? Nothing more than the chatter of a six year old girl wanting to match her princess underwear with her princess t-shirt. That's it. Nothing major. Just the sweet talk of a young girl who's whole concern in life at that moment was the pleasure of a perfect matching outfit down to her undies. I just can not imagine that the next season of life that will soon be upon me could match the difficult, crazy, but very precious years of my life right now.

Now off to tend to a few more fires.

A Fun Giveaway!

Aimee at One of the King's Servants is hosting a fun giveaway and I thought I would join in here on my blog! It sounds like fun!

Do I have five readers?

Here's how it works.

The first five people to leave a comment on this post will get something from me.
But in return, you have to do the same thing on your blog and make something for five other people.
The details are as follows, and if you want to play, copy the following onto your blog and leave me a post:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be.
It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber.
It may be weird or beautiful.
Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Hey, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.

Okay get busy and leave me some comments so I can get busy making you something.

Note:

My own Over in the Meadow revision!

If you do not have a blog or have a blog but would rather not host this on your own blog and still would like to participate in this fun giveaway do not worry about it! Just leave a comment and I will make something and send it to the first five people who comment.

Don't forget to leave your email if I do not already have it so I can contact you.

Hmm...what should I make? I'll think of something fun.

A Melancholy Evening

I confess... It was me who overtook Jeff's blog. It was late and I was in a bored but goofy mood. I'm sure nobody who knows Jeff would think he actually posted those posts himself. His humor is much more clever. My husband is a good sport!

Jeff was working late this evening so the night took on a melancholy type of a mood. A bunch of the older kids were across the street watching a Waseca Braves baseball game. I wandered around snapping miscellaneous pictures of the children and cat.
