A Little This and That on a Saturday

Joel and Loki enjoying the warmth.

See, didn't I tell you this little chair was an awesome buy?!

I had an idea to add a little texture to one of my girl dress patterns. I just wanted to see if I could add little tucks to a bodice without an actual pattern telling me how to do it.

This is what I came up with. I still need to add the skirt but I was pretty pleased with the results so far so I wanted to show you.

I just love the fabric. It is from Joann Fabrics. I bought it a few years ago and have been holding onto it for the perfect dress look to use it on. I am pleased because Joann's still carries this fabric on their Calico wall. That means I can offer other sizes in my shop if I like. Cool.

I also made homemade bias strips for the arm holes.

I will hopefully get the rest of the dress done this week or maybe next week.

A Few Bargains

I scored a few fun bargains at a 4H garage sale that was held in the 4H building at our local fair grounds.

I really like bargains!!

Especially the ones that run in the dollar or less range.

What kind of bargains do I look for, you are asking yourself.

Awesome ones!

I might use this in an up-cycled skirt or something in my Etsy shop.

I might resell it in my fabric shop.

I might just use it as is.

All I know is it is very pretty.

One can find random jars at most sales but one like this?

I think not!

Should I repaint it and put new glass in it?

Or

Should I repaint it and maybe use some of that chalkboard paint on the part where the glass goes?

Or

Should I repaint it and make a fabric tack board?

Not sure but it will be very cool when I finish it!!

Ok, this was just cute and tiny.

I am a fan of cute and tiny things like this chair!!

This chair is wonderful just the way it is.

No changes needed!

*Notice the tiny crib in the back ground? That was a terrific find from a few months ago. You can smile at it. I do. It rocks. Not really. It is just a crib, not a rocking crib...but it totally rocks!*

These are my kind of bargains!!

And Now Five More...Oh,Not Again!

I think in some cat bathroom somewhere there must be "For a fun time call Skittles" etched onto the stall door.

Well, I suppose it could just have been a very strategically thought out early Mother's day gift Skittles wanted to give to herself.

I know it was not a gift meant for me. I do not remember 'five more baby kitties' being requested by me as my Mother's Day gift.

~SIGH~

But they are pretty cute...

Why do baby kitties have to be so darn adorable...

I do have to compliment Skittles on her choice of 'Toms', though.

She has not made one un-pretty baby cat...and she has made many.

Patchwork Primers

I was looking around on Ebay for nothing in particular and I came across these two home school unit study type books.

I was pretty curious.

I had never heard of these books and I have been around the homeschooling block about a zillion times.

I bid $15 dollars and came out the winner.

Yah!

The more I look through them the more excited I get.

Too bad the author only wrote these two volumes.

Don't they look pretty intriguing?

I might or might not get around to incorporate them into our schooling this summer.

It all depends on how organized I am, but I really want to try.

I will let you know what I think of them if I do!!

A New Richland Photo Shoot

Yesterday, after New Richland's 2014 Prom Grand March (which was very well done by the way) our youngest five who went with to watch and Jeff humored me with an impromptu photo shoot.

Enjoy the results!!!!!!!

Lily and Grace

Anya, Naomi, Joel, Grace, Lily, and Jeff

We stopped by The Yellow Mushroom for ice cream cones when we got back into Waseca.

It was a fun time.

Interesting is this group of five children are our 6th grade and younger group.

How can that be??!!

Remember when all of our kids seemed so little?

Where did the time go?

New Richland Prom 2014

Today was New Richland's Prom.

My handsome young Alan attended with his friend and fellow McDonald's co-worker Ash-lee.

What a wonderful looking couple they were!

Ash-lee is so sweet.

And that Alan...well...he is very handsome in his tux.

Joyce joined in on the picture taking

Cyrus did as well.

This is my favorite picture.

The handsome one on the far right...

I call dibs.

He is mine.

If he would ask me to the prom, I would for sure go.

Just saying.

Now, This Is Awkward

Feeling somewhat antsy at the table this evening correcting the kids school.

Even more antsy looking at the stack still waiting for me.

~Sigh~

I feel the stress building.

Then I got snippy at my eldest for something I can not even remember now.

Sent her to her room.

Called her back down.

We did not need to be separated but together with some mom-daughter bonding time.

Over plates of homemade donut holes

As well as homemade French fries.

My youngest, who is never one to accept being excluded from anything that resembles a tea party, joined in despite her lack of being in the possession of a formal invitation.

She also wanted to demonstrate the proper way to drink from a tea cup.

As the three of us sit down to enjoy our special treats, my oldest realizes she is sitting in the middle.

The tea party place of honor.

This mom smiles.

I hear her say, "Now,this is awkward."

Sorry if I am still smiling.

She will be 20 in a few months and I think she still secretly enjoys sitting in the tea party place of honor.

I will stop smiling...

in a little while.
