Bisquick ,Disposable Pans,And a Mouse Trap

Hu?

What do Bisquick,Disposable Pans,And A Mouse Trap have in common?

Well, dinner of course!

Disposible Pan

Because our family is the size it is we have outgrown our 9 x 13 pans. Even two 9 x 13 pans are not enough!

Every once in a while, we will get the leftovers from a big community meal that our church or another church here in Waseca hosts. Sometimes those leftovers come in these big 12 x 19 (?) disposable pans. What a treasure these are. This pan in the picture has lasted since a Thanksgiving meal our church had. It could have been a church egg bake breakfast. I forget which. We are very careful in washing these out. Depending on what I make we can eat 1 1/2 to two whole pans of this 12 x 19 size.

I finally had to throw this pan and another one we acquired at the same time away. The holes on the bottom were just a little too big.

Someday I will come across actual big non disposable pans like this. I know there has to be some out there somewhere.

I did get one last meal in though.

Chicken pot pie Bisquick style!

Bisquick

I have not gotten Bisquick for a long while but I did on an impulse a few weeks ago. Gee what a treat is was. I did not know it came in such a big box. It felt like a luxury not needing to haul out all kinds of ingredients. Does anyone know how to make homemade Bisquick?

A Mouse Trap

As you see in the above picture, Lily is too interested in the mouse trap game to smile for the camera.

Don't worry, I did not serve mouse from a mouse trap for dinner.

It was chicken...honest.

Warmly,A Patchwork Mommy

  1. Thats a good idea about using those pans,,,probably never would have thought of that. I use a roasting pan...they are about that size and you can by them anywhere and they even work for squares!

  2. Try a commercial or restaurant supply store for bigger pans.

    Here's a homemade bisquick recipe.

    Homemade Bisquick Mix

    5 cups flour
    1/4 cup baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 cup butter or margarine
1.Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
2.Store in an airtight container for up to 6 weeks or in the freezer for longer storage.
    Makes approx: 6 cups

    To make Biscuits
Mix together 1/3 cup of milk for every 1 cup of mix. Drop onto un-greased cookie sheets and bake @ 450ºF for 10-12 min.

*Add any additional ingredients you wish such as cheese or herbs before adding the milk.

    * 1 cup of mix will yield about 6 biscuits.

    To make Pancakes:
Mix 2 cups of mix with 1 cup milk and 2 eggs. Cook on hot griddle.
