I made three young girl dresses today.
Cute alphabet animals
Every ones favorite Mickey Mouse
Owls sitting on branches
And I finally finished putting the binding on five quilts.
Some of these quilts have been waiting over a year to be finished!
Yikes!!

A Few Weekend Projects
I have made some progress on the the square quilt that I had all nicely laid out one evening last week, until our baby cat Shiloh thought it would make a fun playground.
I decided it would be easier to sew three sections of 5 x 12 squares each and then sew the three sections into one.
I have one more section to piece together.
It will be 12 squares by 15 squares when it is all finished. Each square is 4" x 4".
It is looking very pretty so far!
A few years ago I made a baby quilt for a friend and as I was cutting out her quilt I had enough extra fabric to cut out duplicate quilt pieces to make another at a future time.
I had forgotten about it but came across it last week while filling an Etsy order for a customer.
I just had to sew it together and I love it!! It coordinates with my square quilt above.
Not sure when I will get to quilting it but I hope soon.
This was the quilt book I got the pattern from.
And the quilt pattern.
I was not going to go out this past weekend to shop but I had two separate customer fabric requests in my Etsy shop. Yeah! I was out of stock of the fabrics requested so we all bundled up Sunday evening to quickly run to the fabric store to see if I could fill the fabric orders.
I had luck with one request but sadly not with the other.
While I was looking around I picked out this combo.
Don't laugh but I think I am going to make a few childs winter hats out of this. I have a pattern that I wanted to try for a while. We will see how it looks! In my mind it will look pretty swell but the real world does not always match what is in my head...
And this fabric was on clearance.
There is something about it that is so pretty. It is a M'liss fabric. She comes up with some fun stuff. I do not always care for her fabric lines but this particular fabric is fun. Her Josie's Aquarium line I kind of like as well...
I know for sure I want to make Lily a dress out of this and bought enough to make a few more dresses to put in my Etsy shop.
Hope you enjoyed your Monday!!

Shiloh
Oh, don't you go looking all sweet and innocent
I know what you have been doing when my back is turned...
Shiloh meanings:
He who will be sent (yes, to mess up my quilt squares)
Peaceful, tranquil (um...no not this Shiloh)
It is hard to hold a grudge.
You are just so cute.
I still love you Shiloh!

Jeff...I am Just Curious ?
I have a serious question for Jeff.
An important one.
Very important.
BUT
before I get to that a recap on my day (in photos,of course) is needed.
I put some fresh cranberries on the crock pot overnight with some sugar and water.
I was not sure what I would wake up to
I was very pleased with the results!
Yum!!!
I forgot to show you the flowers Jeff brought me the other day.
Thanks Jeff!!
This evening, I finally sat down to quilt the two quilt tops I finished last week.
My meandering flow is very rusty but I was too lazy to practice before I started on the quilt.
For being rusty, my meandering was not so bad. I am pleased but look at the gooberish wrinkle on the back.
~sigh~
I decided to not fix it. I thought I would made it look worse by taking out the quilting stitches and attempting to redo it. Besides, it is close to the edge. It now has character in the form of a gooberish wrinkle.
I love the Bambi quilt. I did not meander but straight line quilted it.
Ok, on to my question for you, Jeff.
Are you reading?
Paying attention?
Make sure you are.
This is serious.
Here goes...
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
I guess...
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you!
I love you!!

End of a Sunday
I finished piecing the quilt I started on Friday.
Here it is all sandwiched and ready for quilting!
A close up.
No worries.
The yellow stuff around the outside of the quilt is not a third border but the wadding. Just thought I would mention that, just in case...
I thought since I was going to all the effort to take out the sewing machine I quilt with...well, what is one more!
Right?
Two terrific vintage Bambi pillowcases were passed on to me. I am sorry I forget who gave them to me.
I am pretty sure you were intending us to use them as actual pillowcases but I just could not.
I had a vision.
Here is what I am using one for. It is all ready for it's quilting moment.
Do not worry sweet Bambi and friends. You will be pleased with the final result.
Trust me.
The photo does not do it justice.
I was so exited as I was piecing this one that my heart was thumping very fast. (thumping...Thumper...get it?)
Yeah!
I hope to get these 'pretties' quilted sometime this week.

The Bug Bit!
The quilting bug that is!
So out came the books

and the scraps

I finally decided on a book

I decided on the Quarter Log Cabin pattern. I am going for the scrappy look so I am not paying much mind to the placement of lights, mediums, and darks so the end result will not look as orderly as the quilt in the book...it will look much better.

So far,so good!

A Half Finished Project
I am starting to clean out my sewing room and came across one of my half finished quilt projects from last summer.
Here is the story behind it:
I was at the grocery store and ran across this book in one of the isles.

It is such a beautiful little book.
I love the pictures!

I thought I would try to make a quilt with my existing scraps that reminds me of the book. Too bad I did not have more vintage colors for the nine-patch blocks.

I really should finish it up this summer.

I also last year at an antique show ran across this pattern. The clothes remind me of the book as well.

I thought this was interesting...If you look at the pattern pieces the dress sleeves are a part of the sides of the dress.

Here is a closer look. Isn't that interesting. It seems like a easy dress to sew. I kind of stink at button holes but I am very intrigued as to how this dress sews together.

A Little Obsession of a Few Kinds
How about a little material obsession!
I did not use my free time very wisely this evening. I spent half of it looking at this book.
Material Obsession: Modern Quilts with Traditional Roots by Sarah Fielk and Kathy Doughty
It is just the most beautiful quilt book. I have yet to make anything from it. The Quilts seem pretty challenging.
I was thinking it would be a great book to use my stash fabric for. Maybe one of these days I will go through and make all 23 quilts in this book. It would probably take me about five years at least.

Here are a few of the quilts

This one is my ultimate favorite

Ok, my all time obsession is kissing warm cozy baby cheeks right after a baby nap and that cute baby crib head.

I spent the second half of my quiet house time taking pictures of Lily.Who could blame me! She is pretty fun.

Don't worry. It's decaf. What a kind hubby to bring me a special drink to enjoy with my quiet night.

Lily is a pro at making mac and cheese. How many boxes? Seven tonight because Elena and Grant will not be home to eat with us.
