We Did Something Kind of Radical

After many years of the most of the family gracing the doors of Christ Community Church here in Waseca we decided to start attending another church in town as a family called Real Life Church.

It was both a very difficult decision but yet an easy one all mixed up together. How can that be? Christ Community has seen our family through many transitions and as a church served us beyond anything we could ever repay.

There have been relationships that I have felt very loyal to.

I am glad that Waseca is a small town and that the Body of Christ goes beyond physical church walls.

Thank you Christ Community for your years of service to our family.

Thank you Pastor Chris, Pastor Howard, and Pastor Zack for your love for Christ and laying down your lives for us brothers and sisters in Christ in the way you do.

Of course, the kids will still be participating in youth group at Christ Community. A few of the older kids will still be helping with AWANA and going to Club 180 on Friday nights. And that awesome gym!! The boys (and Joyce) can not get enough of it.

Why Real Life?

Before we moved down to Waseca we lived in the Twin Cities area and attended Evergreen Community Church. Close to two decades of our lives was spent laboring for Christ with Evergreen (and Jeff at one of it's sister churches down in Iowa). When we moved down to Waseca Evergreen was too far to drive to although we made the Sunday commute for two years until gas prices got too high.

I walked into Real Life and right away I was at home. It is very much the style and vision of church we left behind at Evergreen. Those who know me well know I personally struggled over these past years after leaving Evergreen. Greatly. I am home, now. I am settled. I am at rest. This quirky, odd, broken person is home.

I can write a whole lot on the nuts and bolts of our decision (some pretty and some not so pretty) but the bottom line is it was time to continue forward on the race that was set before us.

For Seven years that race brought us shoulder to shoulder with some wise, Godly, self sacrificing people at Christ Community and we are very privileged to have run along side of them. Now we look forward to running this new stretch of the race.

Grace, Lily, and Joel chillin' in the snack area at Real Life this morning.

Warmly, A Dragonfrye Mommy

  1. so i am praising GOD for you finally finding a home and smiling because it is a sister church started by our Vista! we will make it to sit with you one sunday soon! just like "old time's"- rice's in front and fryes in the back only YOU will be there and I will be so very excited! i know what it is like to wander in the valley friend and i am glad you have found a place of rest! i remember saying to one of your daughters when we first started to go to CCC i can't wait to meet your mama~can't wait till we can worship together. oh and about the "oddity's" we all have them. some of us embrace them and some pretend we don't have them. i was at a get-together the other day and came home to hubby asking "how did it go?" i said the girls had fun but i am kind of odd ya know.... he said "oh I KNOW!"
